Planning for 2013

It may sound crazy when you are in the thick of delivering Q2 results to take an eye off the ball and think about 2013, however, there are very good reasons for doing it now.

Firstly, if your product / service relies has to be budgeted for by your clients, then anytime now through till October is budgeting season, so it’s important that you are in contact with the right people now in order that you are “in the game”.

Secondly, any strategic campaign worth its salt takes time to organise, and may involve recruitment, securing of resources, planning and liaison with others. If you “mend the roof while the sun shines”, it avoids forcing you into a impossible to manage situation down the road.

Thirdly, if you are proactive in your planning for sales success, isn’t that the kind of example you would like to set for your team?

Finally, this is a direct application of the principle: ‘Dream big, start small, start now’.
